Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church
Notice of Closure and Curtailment

Despite a thorough and exhaustive regimen of proactive measures to ensure against it, exposure to COVID-19 has occurred on the campus of Eastern Shore Chapel. Specifically, the sector housing Parish Day School and the church staff offices has been affected. Consequently, Parish Day School will close from Wednesday, October 7 until Monday, October 19. The church staff will assume a streamlined presence on site (working primarily from home) beginning today until Wednesday, October 14.

Although made in consultation with public health officials, the decision to temporarily close and curtail activities at PDS and ESC is entirely elective, not mandated in any way. The safety and health of our parishioners, staff and students outweigh all other considerations.

Please continue to communicate with the parish office by leaving a voicemail message at 757-428-6763 or via email at [email protected].

Note: The Red Cross Blood Drive, scheduled for Thursday, October 8 from 2-6 PM will proceed as planned. The same is true for daily Twelve Step meetings and for Saturday distribution from 12 noon until 3 PM at Chapel Pantry.

Thursday’s 10 AM in-person MLK/Bible Study is cancelled. The MLK/Bible Study Zoom session will take place at 7 PM as planned.

Outdoor worship services will be conducted in-person on the back lawn at 10:30 AM on Sunday, October 18 and Sunday, November 1. Virtual services (YouTube) will continue to be offered  every Sunday.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and pledges during these challenging recent months. God has blessed this parish with abundant resources and exceptional human beings. We remain grateful and excited for our future together, even as we take these precautionary measures.

Peace & blessings,

Cameron
