Rulemaking 20-09-001 and California Advanced Services Fund distribution list subscribers—
This communication is to provide notice of the limited opportunity to apply for a last mile Federal Funding Account grant.
What. Limited Six County Application Opportunity. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is noticing a limited opportunity to submit last mile Federal Funding Account applications in six counties: Calaveras, Contra Costa, Inyo, Monterey, Orange, and Trinity.
The limited application opportunity will follow these steps:

Review Application Materials. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review Decision 22-04-055 and its Appendix, the Application Resources, and the 2025 Data and Public Map.

Registration. New applicants may begin registering from April 7. Returning applicants do not need to re-register and may use existing credentials to log into the Broadband Grant Portal.

Application Window and Broadband Grant Portal. A two-week application window is planned. The Broadband Grant Portal will begin accepting applications on Tuesday, April 15 and will close Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. Applications will only be accepted through the Broadband Grant Portal.

Objections. A notice for the objection period will follow the close of the application window. Entities will have 14 days to object and applicants will have 14 days to respond to objections. Objections and responses to objections will only be accepted through the Broadband Grant Portal. Information to support an objection is specified in Decision 22-04-055 and its Appendix.

Evaluation and Awards. Applications will be holistically analyzed and evaluated. Awards may be made ministerially by letter, should they meet the criteria, or via Resolution, which will be noticed for public comment.
