Notice of January 17

Delta Independent Science Board Meeting

The Delta Independent Science Board will meet on January 17, 2024, at 9:00 AM to discuss its reviews and activities, which will help inform the Delta ISB’s 2024 annual

work plan. This will include a discussion on Delta ISB’s draft comment letter on the

draft staff report released by the State Water Resources Control Board in

support of updates to the Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan.

The following day, on January 18, 2024, from 9:00 AM-10:30 AM, the Delta ISB, with support from the Delta Science Program, will continue its seminar series that explores concepts from decision-making under deep uncertainty. Scroll down for more details.

About the Seminar

Decision-making under deep uncertainty occurs when future events and outcomes cannot be well-characterized with existing data or models.

The fifth seminar of the Delta ISB's series will focus on Dynamic Adaptive Planning and how it might be applied to management issues in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. It will discuss practical examples of using Dynamic Adaptive Planning to show when it is most effective and how it can be used to reframe uncertainty as opportunity.

The Delta ISB meets monthly. Members of the public may observe and participate in the meeting either in person at a teleconference location (listed in the meeting notice) or through Cal-Span or Zoom. More information is available in the notice linked above.

The Delta ISB advises the Delta Stewardship Council and provides oversight of the scientific research, monitoring, and assessment programs in the Delta through periodic reviews.
