Did You Know?

When you move or purchase a new home that was previously homesteaded it can cause an increase in the taxable value and your assessed value will be different from that of the previous owner, with Homestead.

Likewise, if you apply for a Homestead Exemption on property receiving the benefit of the 10% Non-Homestead Cap, the cap will be removed and the homestead will apply to the current assessed value.

A new exemption application is required if you:
* Purchase or move to a new residence
* Change the title of your property by assigning it to a trust or by adding a spouse
Dear Neighbor,

Our commitment at the Saint Lucie County Property Appraiser's Office is to ensure you receive the property tax exemptions for which you are entitled.  A new exemption, for Florida First Responders who are totally and permanently disabled as a result of an injury or injuries sustained in the line of duty while employed by a Florida Agency, was passed this year. For  a complete list of the criteria required to qualify for this exemption and deadlines for filing, please contact our office.

Additional information regarding your property and exemptions you may qualify for can be found on our website, www.paslc.org. If you prefer to talk with a professional, please visit one of our award-winning offices or call us at 772.462.1000. It is our pleasure to serve you, and we look forward to doing so.
