The Delta Stewardship Council will meet virtually on September 23 at 9:00 AM. The meeting will include consideration of a contract for the 2022 class of Delta science fellows and the 2022/2023 classes of State policy fellows and consideration of a comment letter to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission/Association of Bay Area Governments on their Draft Plan Bay Area 2050. The Council will also hear updates from the Delta Watermaster, the San Francisco Estuary Partnership on their Estuary BluePrint, and the Department of Water Resources and the Delta Conveyance Design and Construction Authority on the Delta Conveyance Project.
The Council’s monthly meetings are the definitive place for the public to learn about and comment on the implementation of the Delta Plan. This month's meeting proceedings will be conducted entirely remotely. Members of the public may observe the meeting via and Zoom.
The Delta Plan creates a common vision for taking on current and predicted challenges and includes regulations, non-regulatory recommendations, and performance measures to further water supply reliability, ecosystem resiliency, and the unique values of the Delta as a place.
Management of the Delta involves numerous stakeholders and competing interests. Progress requires bringing the right people together to implement timely, science-based solutions. The Council was created to align Delta decision-making with science. In the face of climate change, this connection is more important than ever.
