COVID-19 Reporting
Dear families,

As we head into winter break, we wish you a healthy and safe New Year.

Please contact Health Team Aide Karen Laywell if your student tests positive for the virus that causes COVID-19 over the break.

Meridian staff: if you test positive, please contact Ms. Laywell as well.

Why do we ask for this information while you're off campus? It is important for campus contact tracing if you test positive on/before Dec. 21, and we will offer quarantine guidelines (and the temporary switch to distance learning paperwork if it applies) if you test positive as we get closer to our return date of Jan. 6 for students and Jan. 5 for staff.
On Campus Instruction in Q3
As we move into the third quarter, we have slightly more students on campus than in previous quarters. This means that there is less availability for mid-quarter changes to on-campus learning.

While the the State of Texas requires us to allow any student who chooses to be on campus, we are allowed to manage this at the beginning of each quarter. Parents should be able to rely on the distancing situation of their child’s classrooms throughout the quarter.

As a reminder, we do not accept requests to change to on-campus learning during the quarter unless social distancing can still be maintained at a minimum of 6 feet of space between desks in each class.
If you are moving to on-campus instruction in Q3, please download the PikMyKid app on your phone over the break.

We use the PikMyKid app for three important reasons:

  • Health screen: you will check in each morning before school to answer a brief health screen.
  • Dismissal: You will "announce" that you're here to pick up your child when you arrive on campus and see the PikMyKid stop signs (allowing us to dismiss students from the classroom, helping them to maintain social distance).
  • Safety communications: we send short messages to families in the event of major traffic incidents, weather events, drills, in case of emergencies, etc.

Car Tags are being mailed to families who will be moving to on-campus instruction; you should receive yours by January 5. Due to mail service delays; it may take a while to arrive. If it is Jan. 5 and you have not received tags in the mail, please email Lynda Chapel.
