This morning during the ICON and 11:00 am Main Sanctuary services, our Chair of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, Bob Olliff, announced that the committee had been informed by our District Superintendent that the Rev. Brandon Bures is projected to be appointed at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Pensacola, Florida as Senior Pastor effective May 15, 2025.
Rev. Bures has faithfully served our church for nine years through his preaching, teaching, offering pastoral care to countless families, leading our ICON worship service, and guiding the congregation through a significant transition in clergy leadership. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and ministry at First Church.
Please join us in celebrating Rev. Bures on his last Sunday with us, April 27, 2025 at a reception in The Wright Place at 9:45am.
The Pastor-Parish Relations Committee has been actively engaged in the consultative process with our District Superintendent and Bishop to discern our next clergy leader. We anticipate announcing the appointment of our new pastor during worship on April 6, 2025. The new pastor will begin his or her ministry among us on July 1, 2025. The ICON service will be led by our other clergy staff during the months of May and June.
