Suspension
On December 3, 2018, a Hearing Committee of the Law Society of Alberta found Norman Kelly, a suspended member of the Law Society who lives and practiced in Calgary, to be guilty of conduct deserving of sanction for failing to appear in court, meet court deadlines and comply with an undertaking to the court; failing to comply with the Law Society’s trust accounting rules and conditions imposed by the Benchers; accepting trust funds when not authorized to do so; failing to be candid with the Law Society and the custodian of his practice; failing to keep the Law Society apprised of his contact information and failing to respond promptly and completely to communications from the court, the Law Society and opposing counsel.

The Hearing Committee ordered Mr. Kelly to be suspended for 4 months effective as of December 3, 2018, and costs in the amount of $18,000, payable within one year of reinstatement.
