Dear Aristoi Community,
We are so appreciative of your passion and dedication as you came together like an army to prepare our students for their safe return to school last August and throughout this year during the COVID pandemic. I dare not try to mention everyone’s efforts for fear of missing one single member of the strategic task force that ensured the success of online and on-ground learning this school year! The struggles have been real. The care and concern shown to our students as we endeavored to meet their academic, personal, physical, and mental health needs have been inspiring. Our world, as well as our community, have experienced trauma and challenges. Bravo, Aristoi community, as you finish strong after this difficult year! The virtue that comes to mind is courage. It has been on display all year.
Now, we look forward with anticipation as we plan for the fall. For the 2021-22 school year, we will offer on-ground classes only. We will return to our normal procedures of operation beginning June 1. We will not mandate masks, take temperatures in carpools, or social distance. We will continue using our professional cleaning service for facilities, hand-washing protocols, and follow our health guidelines in the Parent/Student Handbook on pages 14–19.
Our high school graduation will be on-ground in the Griffin Center by invitation only as we celebrate the fulfillment of our vision for our seniors. We will be offering summer school June 7 –July 2 for students in kindergarten through 8th grade who are required to attend or who need to sharpen their skills. Classes will be on-ground from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Summer athletic opportunities will be announced soon.
The quote by Cicero (De Officiis), “Not for ourselves alone are we born; our country, our friends have a share in us,” comes to mind when I reflect on this past year. It has been our heart and hope to model before our students our vision for them: “We desire them to be honorable citizens who seek to improve their communities and the world rather than passively traveling along the road most followed.”
We are finishing this school year strong and are anticipating a welcomed sense of normalcy as we learn together in the fall. I hope that you will have a restful and enjoyable summer.
Sincerely,
Brenda Davidson
Superintendent
