This year, the Annual General Assembly of Solidarity held at the Good Shepherd Centre in Kit (South Sudan) from 21 to 26 October, began with a day of recollection led by Fr. John Loboko AJ, the Provincial of the Apostles of Jesus. The theme, ‘Spirituality of Compassion’, led the participants in a deep reflection on the document ‘Passion for Christ - Passion for Humanity’. The discussion emphasised the understanding of the compassion of Christ and its relevance for the spirituality of Solidarity in serving the people of South Sudan. The assembly featured an introductory presentation highlighting the importance of community life. Each community leader shared the life experiences of their community, alongside institutional and pastoral activities.
The first two days were devoted to exploring and deepening the motivations that drive us to live with Solidarity. Facilitated by John Ashworth, participants engaged in discussions and reflections based on five key questions:
- What was the original insight that brought you to South Sudan?
- What is your experience of Christ? Where have you encountered Him?
- Where do you find your energy?
- What do you need to sustain or renew your energy and passion?
- How can we respond collectively as a community to embody our passion for Christ and humanity?
These considerations encouraged deep reflection on our community life and strengthened our commitment to the values of Solidarity. The precious moment of the Assembly continues to inspire and guide our mission in South Sudan. See photos of the Assembly in the VIDEO!
