SPARTAN RACE MUD AND OBSTACLE RACING
COMES TO TIMES SQUARE

Obstacle racing has taken America by storm - the biggest thing in adventure sports. Over 1.5 million people have competed in an obstacle race in 2012 and now, for the first time, they'll be able to test themselves against mud and obstacles in Times Square. Spartan Race, called Best Obstacle Race of 2012 by Outside Magazine and featured in its November 2012 cover story, will host an obstacle race demo in Times Square with hundreds of the fittest (and boldest) male and female competitors in New York.
Think marathons are tough? Spartan Race (spartanrace.com) makes marathons look like a cakewalk. The Spartan Race Times Square Challenge, Thursday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., will feature hundreds of intrepid New Yorkers, in the heart of Times Square, crawling through mud and barbed wire, flipping tractor tires, and being pummeled by "gladiators," all to prove that they are "Spartan tough."
The Spartan Race Challenge is an invitational demonstration event the public can watch and enjoy. Competitors include Team X.T.R.E.M.E. (team-x-treme.org) and current Spartan champions. The winning male and female finisher will receive a pass to the 30+ Spartan Races planned for 2013 throughout the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia.
