Message from President
Billie Araiza
Greetings!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Business Meeting last week and for voting on all the motions. I’m happy to announce that all the motions passed.

As many of you already know, we have chosen to collaborate with the Girl Scouts of Northern California for our Soroptimist International of Chico 100 Year Legacy project. I hope all of our members are able to join us on Zoom this week for our Wednesday noon meeting. The Girl Scouts will be our guest speaker and they will be sharing information with us about their upcoming projects and how our club can help. This will be an opportunity for our members to learn more about the Girl Scouts, their mission, and the outdoor pavilion and bathroom SI Chico is sponsoring. President-Elect, Sara, and I submitted a video to the Power of 100 Women asking them to support our 100 Year Legacy Project. The Power of 100 Women chose to support the ARC with their playground remodel. Please join me in congratulating the ARC on being chosen as the recipient of the funds. We all know the ARC does a lot for our community and I can’t wait to see their playground once it’s complete. The Power of 100 Women put SI Chico back into the hat and we can be chosen again in the future. The SI Chico video, Sara and I submitted was an opportunity to share information about Soroptimist and what we do for our community. The fact that we were able to tell over 150 women about our club and what we do, is a win in my book. You can see the video further down in this E-blast.

Thank you to those who have been delivering meals to Linda Allen and Gayle. They were very touched by the kindness and generosity of our members. I love the way our members support each other and are there when members are in need. I’m writing this E-blast on the anniversary of the Paradise Camp Fire. I am continuously filled with gratitude, for all the love and support, I received from all our club members in 2018 during that difficult time.

For anyone who is interested in signing up to ring the bell for the Salvation Army or would like to deliver dinner to Linda and Gayle, please click on the signups further down in this E-blast and sign up for a date and time. It always brings me such joy to ring the bell for the Salvation Army. It provides an opportunity to see the kindness and compassion in people who live in our community. This is a great way to help those in our community and to let the community know that SI Chico is still here and caring for our community.

With Gratitude,

President Billie

President Billie & President Elect Sara submitted this video for the Power of 100 Women

I want to thank my Soropti Sisters for their well wishes, prayers, cards, flowers & gifts. After 1 1/2 months in UC Davis hospital, I’m at my daughters in Sacramento recuperating. Miss everyone!! Being cautiously optimistic that I’ll be back home mid November.
