2024 Impact Awards
More than 125 people attended the PRSA Southern Arizona Impact Awards at Pima County Historic Courthouse in downtown Tucson on October 22. A total of 15 organizations received 31 awards.
This year’s top honors went to Lisa Romero, Associate Vice President for Research, Communications and Marketing, University of Arizona Office of Research, Innovation and Impact, who was granted the Career Impact Award. Arizona Daily Star Higher Education Reporter Ellie Wolfe and Lupita Murillo, KVOA-TV reporter (retired) were recognized as co-recipients of the 2024 Media Person of the Year, while Mandy Betz, Account Coordinator for Caliber Group, was named Rookie of the Year. The 2024 PR Professional of the Year award winner was Jessa B. Turner, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Tech Parks Arizona.
The UA Institute for Computation and ICDI (Institute for Computation and Data-Enabled Insight) received this year’s Best in Show Award, with the highest scoring submission for its AI Update newsletter and overall efforts to help the University of Arizona community to navigate the challenges of artificial intelligence.
Thanks to IMPACT Awards Co-Chairs Carrie Gurenlian and Joe Barrios for putting together this year’s awards, and to all who volunteered and attended.
