Cholla District Weekly Update

November 21, 2025

RSVP by Monday Nov. 24 for the Cholla District Holiday Mixer

Dear Cholla Residents,

It is so important for residents to get involved within the community, and it is also a cornerstone to the City of Glendale's success. You can play a vital role in shaping our City through volunteerism and providing valuable feedback to elected officials and City leaders.

Glendale has 17 boards and commissions consisting of resident volunteers from across all City Districts that serve a term of 2 years beginning February 1.

I am grateful for the overwhelming participation of residents within the Cholla District serving on all these boards and commissions. We even have 2 high school students that serve on the Library Advisory Board and Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission, in addition to the many adult volunteer positions serving on boards and commissions that include the Arts Commission, Aviation Advisory Commission, Citizens Utility Advisory Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Municipal Property Corporation, Planning Commission, and so many others.

Residents are welcome to review descriptions of all the different Glendale Boards & Commissions and submit an application online at any time throughout the year, even if there is not a current vacancy on the board or commission you wish to serve. Applications submitted to the City Clerk's office from the Cholla District are forwarded to my office for review and recommendation as vacancies occur. I keep them on file and reach out when we have an opening to fill.

Volunteers are required to take a basic online training course and commit to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

We currently have one expected upcoming vacancy beginning February 1, 2026, for a volunteer from the Cholla District to serve on the Commission on Diverse Cultures. This commission makes recommendations to the City Council on ways to encourage mutual respect and understanding among all people, to discourage prejudice and discrimination, and to support cultural awareness and unity of the community. This commission meets at 6 PM, the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

For more information, visit the web site, contact the City Clerk's office at (623) 930-2252, and apply online.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Warm Regards,

Lauren Tolmachoff
