Alberta Health Services Public Health has asked the ACFP to support regular updates to family physicians in Alberta regarding the potential outbreak of novel coronavirus.

AHS, ACFP, and CPSA, will continue to share the latest information through our communication channels as it becomes available. All channels will direct you to the same " source of truth " on the AHS website .
Mar 11: COVID-19 Update - Primary Care Pathway & PPEs
Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services are pleased to confirm that the approval for distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) has been finalized for Primary Care Network (PCN) clinics.

Please read this memo in its entirety and share it broadly with your networks.

  • AHS will begin distribution Thursday March 12th
  • Most PCNs should expect supplies by end of day Friday March 13th
  • Deliveries will be between approximately 0800 and 1600hrs
  • Supplies will arrive at the PCN point of contact provided
  • Distribution from PCNs to clinics will be determined through PCN points of contact
  • PPE must be strictly monitored and not left out in open spaces including waiting/clinic rooms

A new “Frequently Asked Questions” document with answers to common COVID-19 questions from primary care providers has been updated. Please send us additional questions you would like addressed in future updates.

This document contains supplementary information for primary care. Providers should also review the “Information for AHS Staff & Health Professionals” page for critical information for all health professionals , including primary care providers, on the COVID-19 response.
