Mar 28 - An AHS COVID-19 Update
Please note several important updates this week:

  1. Healthcare Worker Screening COVID-19 Tool – AHS has developed an online assessment tool for healthcare workers. Any healthcare worker in Alberta who is experiencing symptoms of fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, is asked to complete the online assessment.
  2. Diagnostic Imaging Postponements - Effective immediately, AHS is postponing some diagnostic imaging procedures. Imaging that is deemed to be non-urgent by the ordering physician will be postponed. Anyone needing an urgent or emergent outpatient CT or MRI scan will still receive one. AHS will evaluate all semi-urgent and routine CT and MRI requests, and those requiring immediate imaging will be re-scheduled at an outpatient, non-hospital site. Any imaging not related to immediate patient treatment will be rescheduled.
  3. Cessation of Routine Lab and Fecal Immunochemical Testing during COVID-19 Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) and DynaLIFE strongly recommend immediate cessation of non-essential and routine laboratory testing. Patients who require bloodwork that is critical to their immediate care will continue to receive testing. Pausing non-essential testing will help alleviate the strain on the laboratory system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please review the attached to learn more.
  4. New FAQ for primary care providers
  5. PPE update attached. AHS ECC is working on approving more groups for PPE distribution with more information forthcoming.
