PQ3: Revenue, balance sheet & income growth
In its Q3 2025 Report to Shareholders, Hyperion Bancshares, Inc., Hyperion Bank’s holding company, reports the loan portfolio has grown by 21% over the last year and deposits have increased by 4%. The asset growth resulted in a 10% increase in revenue and a 19% increase in net income.
During the quarter, Hyperion had the opportunity to buy back some stock which helped contribute to an increase in book value per share. The stock repurchase along with earnings over the last 12 months has resulted in an increase of $1.20 per share in book value.
“Our robust growth continued this quarter with the company crossing over the $500 million asset mark driven by excellent loan demand,” Charlie Crawford, CEO & Chairman of the Philadelphia-based community bank, which also has a banking office and mortgage joint venture in Atlanta.

Andy Stein completes banking leadership program
Hyperion Bank is proud to congratulate Andy Stein, Vice President & Commercial Lending Officer, on his recent graduation from the Barret School of Banking at Christian Brothers University in Memphis.
“We’re proud to celebrate Andy’s graduation from the Barret School of Banking, a nationally respected three-year program for banking leaders,” said Lou DeCesare, President & COO of Hyperion Bank. “I know how much dedication, sacrifice and genuine curiosity it takes to seek out, commit to and complete a rigorous program like this, and we were happy to support Andy in this effort.”
Reflecting on the experience, Andy says, “It was a really good experience and I’m glad I did it. My real-world experience in banking was uneven in terms of the parts of the business I’d been exposed to. Barret did a great job of giving me insight into every area of the bank and how they all work together.”
PACB – the Pennsylvania Association of Community Banking – has a tie-in with Barret, which Andy notes makes it both accessible and affordable – and is how he learned about the program initially. (Hyperion’s Charlie Crawford just completed his term as Chair of PACB’s board.)
He added that one of the biggest benefits was the instant national network of peers:
“Right out of the gate, I was able to call on classmates from around the country to share ideas and problem-solve together – and those friendships continue. The keystone project in our final year was a real-time bank simulation that showed how every lever – staffing, marketing, operations – affects a bank’s financial performance. It gave me perspective most bankers don’t get unless they’re in senior management or systematically cross-trained.”
Lou adds, “from the very start of his time in the program, Andy was learning areas of banking that were new to him, building his network and bringing new ideas to Hyperion and its customers. Congratulations on this important professional milestone!”
Please join us in congratulating Andy on this milestone achievement – and in celebrating his continued commitment to learning, leadership & the community banking values that define Hyperion.
| | Cautionary tale: Jury duty scam experience | | |
A Hyperion customer recently shared a troubling experience involving a highly convincing scam impersonating law enforcement. (We’ve heard of many similar incidents, so we wanted you to be informed & aware.) The individual received a call from someone claiming to be a Fulton County deputy, who addressed them by their full legal name and confirmed their address and age. The caller provided a fake badge number and claimed the customer had missed a federal jury duty summons and instructed them to immediately pay a penalty at a courthouse kiosk.
Coincidentally, the customer had received a legitimate state jury duty notice for later that month; this made the scam seem more plausible. The caller offered an alternative payment method via email and electronic transfer, assuring no personal financial information would be required.
The customer was then transferred to another imposter who sent documents to their phone and guided them through a Zelle payment. When the customer hesitated and suggested going to the courthouse, they were warned that doing so would result in being escorted by police and signing paperwork related to a warrant. The urgency and fear tactics used throughout the call made it difficult to think clearly or verify the information.
Eventually, the scammers pressured the customer to complete the payment via Zelle (which was fortunately frozen by the bank afterward). They then attempted to redirect the payment through PayPal, where the customer was able to identify the recipient as a convicted criminal.
This experience highlights the importance of staying vigilant, verifying identities and never rushing into financial decisions under pressure. Thanks to built-in security measures, the customer avoided a full financial loss – but the emotional toll and stress were significant.
Always feel free to notify Hyperion during or after a fraudulent or potentially fraudulent transaction.

Our community bankers are always happy to share their expertise. Below is a note Charlie Crawford recently received from a graduate student to whom he provided an assist.
Hi Charlie, I wanted to personally thank you once again for taking the time to participate in my doctoral research interviews. Your insights and perspectives were invaluable in shaping my dissertation, Assessing the Impact of Bank Mergers and Acquisitions on Community Banks: An Analysis of Executive Perspectives and Their Operational Decisions.
As a token of my appreciation, I am sharing a copy of the completed dissertation. Your contributions played a meaningful role in this work, and I wanted you to have the opportunity to see how your expertise informed the study’s findings. You may find Chapters 4 and 5 particularly interesting, as they present the results and discussion derived from the executive interviews.
Thank you again for your generosity, time and willingness to support this research. Your participation helped make this project both meaningful and relevant to the community banking industry.
Warm regards,
Christina M. Mease, Ph.D.

Our customers say it best!
We are reaching out to give praise to one of your employees who most definitely deserves it. We've had previous experiences with Charlie (Crawford), and of course, we've worked with Frank (Sullivan) for many years. Frank sent us to Kristjan Prima (Hyperion’s SVP & Director of SBA Lending) to have him work through (the SBA) process with us.
Kristjan has been amazing. We have applied for many residential and commercial loans over the years and this process, by far, has been the smoothest and least stressful. Personally, I was not looking forward to trying to get through the SBA loan application, but Kristjan has taken all the frustration and tension out of the process. He was clear about the ‘why’ of what needed to be sent as well as helping us understand what certain documents were so that we were able to send the correct ones. We have developed a relationship of trust with Kristjan. This has been a great experience, thanks to Kristian's knowledge, diligence and professionalism.
