Lions Fish Boil - Saturday November 2, 2019 4:30 'till its gone at the New Lisbon Community Center

  • Local money stays local. Spending $100 at a local business reportedly results in $68 that stays in the community, compared to $43 for national and franchise businesses.

  • Small Business Saturday sales actually went down in 2017—both in foot traffic and overall dollars spent, according to CNBC.

Congratulations Lynxx Networks!
We know that many years of hard work have gone into building up your network to even be able to be considered for a designation like this.
Smart Rural Community awards are given to broadband companies that can demonstrate how their broadband network is helping to drive growth and create opportunities (economic, educational, quality of life, etc.) in the communities they serve. Lynxx Networks joins the list of approximately 80 rural broadband companies across the U.S. that have been honored with the Smart Rural Community designation since 2013 when the program started.

New Wisconsin Supplier Network connects businesses with buyers, suppliers and service providers

The highly anticipated Wisconsin Supplier Network (WSN) is now live . This new online platform aims to connect Wisconsin buyers, suppliers and service providers with each other and with new business opportunities and advanced manufacturing resources.
The site gives Wisconsin manufacturers access to a free online directory of suppliers and services, with the goal of helping them grow, diversify and build resiliency.
As a project of WEDC, WSN also aims to be a key asset in the state’s business attraction, expansion and retention efforts by showcasing Wisconsin’s robust supply chain across key industry sectors, including water technology, food and beverage, energy and defense.
"Wisconsin Supplier Network is one example of the resources available to manufacturers as they look to compete globally while responding to rapidly evolving market trends and customer needs,” said WEDC Director of Business and Investment Attraction Jela Trask. “WEDC takes a holistic approach in working with partners to ensure Wisconsin is manufacturing-ready by supporting small and midsize manufacturers in leveraging technology and talent development opportunities.”
The WSN site expands and improves on the original Wisconsin Supply Chain Marketplace developed by WEDC and New North, northeast Wisconsin’s regional economic development organization. In addition to expanding the platform statewide, the new site features an easier user interface and integration with many third-party OEM procurement platforms.

Mauston Sets To Break Guinness World Record for Most People Caroling
December 4, 2019
Immediately following the annual CP Holiday Train Event, Mauston citizens and visitors will break into song with door-to-door Christmas Carols to break “The Most People Caroling” record

Every year, during the first week of December, the CP Holiday Train chugs into Mauston, WI on its annual journey wowing the crowds at each stop along its way, restoring food pantry shelves and raising funds for food pantries across North America. This year the railroad tracks near the corner of Division and Tremont streets in Mauston will not only fill with Holiday Train onlookers. After the onboard concert is finished and the train pulls away, visitors are asked to stay and participate in Mauston’s first effort to break the Guinness World Records’ (GWR) “Most People Caroling” record.

Beginning Nov 1 st , Participants are asked to go to the event on Eventbrite.com and obtain a free ticket with QR code that will be scanned for entry at the event. GMTA Event Chair, Vicki Wards says, “Guinness World Records requires many steps of proof and we intend to meet all of them.” Signed-up carolers are also asked to download and/or print the corresponding songbook from this Mauston blog (not yet available) and bring that and their ticket to the event. Volunteers will scan the barcodes on the tickets to meet GWR rules. Those without tickets will not be allowed to participate.

Thinking of staying over? A special All The Bells And Whistles Holiday Package is available for stays from Dec 4th through December 30th at participating Greater Mauston area hotels when booked from Nov 1st through Nov 30th. Packages start at $135 per room per night.
