Did you get to virtually meet new Master Gardener trainees? 300 people are finishing the virtual MG Training and gearing up to volunteer in their communities. They are in good company. The Master Gardener Training has engaged almost 15 thousand people in learning about plants and insects over the past 40 years.

Invasive Plant to Watch for: Barberry
The non-native plant, Japanese barberry, Berberis thunbergii, is a small to medium, dense shrub. Japanese barberry is capable of changing soil characteristics in order to help itself outcompete native plants and also has early spring leaf emergence that allows it to shade out any nearby competitors.
