We will be closing on Wednesday, November 27th at 3:00pm and remain closed through Friday, November 29th, in observance of Thanksgiving.

The Library will reopen on Saturday, November 30th at 10:00am.

Visit our Playful Buffet in the Children's Room to grab some holiday games and activities to go!

Just add markers and crayons to keep all your young guests happy and entertained this Thanksgiving holiday. 

The buffet will be open during regular library hours starting Friday, November 22nd, through Wednesday, November 27th.

Your library card can get you discounts at many attractions on the south coast, including free admission for 2 adults and children under age 18 to the Newport Art Museum.

Through November, the Newport Art Museum will be showcasing children's portraiture and Winslow Homer's wood engravings.

The Friends of Tiverton Libraries is seeking new and unwrapped gifts of:

  • Kids books (infants to age 10)
  • Easy board games, like Sorry, Connect 4, Bananagrams, Chutes & Ladders, Yahtzee, and Checkers
  • Simple card games, like Uno, Fish, Concentration, and Sleeping Queens

Collection will take place at the Tiverton Public Library from Monday, November 18th, to Saturday, December 9th, and will benefit East Bay Community Action Program in Support of WIC & Healthy Families America.

Retro Game Club: Multiplayer Mayhem

Tuesday, November 5th, 6:00-7:30pm, Community Room

Join us for a journey into the golden age of gaming! Explore a range of retro games or try your hand at some newer editions. We’ll have a variety of systems set up throughout the Community Room with plenty of options for everyone.

This month, we’re focusing on multiplayer games, with a selection of arcade classics and modern favorites. As always, we’ll have dedicated stations for our Smash Bros & Mario Kart fans, ready to go.

Free and open to all. No registration required. Just drop in and play!
CreaTiv Crafts
Thursday, November 7th, 3:30-4:30pm, Community Room

Join us on the first Thursday of every month for some fun and creativity. This month, we will be making homemade sugar scrubs. All materials are provided. Please register to reserve your spot.

Meet the Author: Joyce Derenas
Saturday, November 9th, 11:00am-12:00pm, Community Room

Joyce Derenas’ breakout novel, The Long Shot: a French Canadian Saga , is an epic survival adventure of pioneering men in the gold fields of Dawson. Based on the true lives of Joyce’s grandfather and his brothers, this story tells of two brothers who trekked 4,000 miles across the Canadian wilderness. Their dream: a glimpse of the fabled Yukon gold that could change their lives forever.

Joyce will speak about her novel, reading a bit as she goes. Copies of her book will be available for purchase. This program is free and open to the public.
Claude Bourbon in Concert
Saturday, November 9th, 7:00-9:00pm, Community Room

Claude Bourbon returns to Tiverton Public Library as part of his US and Canada Tour. Altadena News calls his music “A breathtaking acoustic fusion of blues, jazz, folk, classical, and Spanish guitar from a stunning guitar virtuoso.” Presented by Frog Records. This program is free and open to the public.

Learn the basics of Google My Business! Take control of what customers see when they look up your business online.

Google My Business is a free tool that lets you update your business information across Google Search and Maps. Discover how to keep this info accurate and up-to-date so customers can better connect with your business. A Google Account is recommended but not required.

Grieving During the Holidays Workshop

The end-of-the-year holidays can be some of the hardest days to go through during the early years after the death of a loved one. Balancing this already demanding time with the sadness we feel, because of not being able to share this holiday time with our loved one, can feel overwhelming. 

This workshop provides tips and ideas to help us navigate the varied challenges of this holiday time, honor the memory of our loved one, and care for our own needs as we grieve. This program is provided by Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association, Supportive Care Services, Bereavement Department. This program is free and open to the public. Please register to reserve your spot.

Meet the Author: Michael Fine
Thursday, November 21st, 6:30-8:00pm, Community Room

A former director of the Rhode Island Department of Health, Michael Fine has been a writer, community organizer, family physician, and public health official for 40 years. In addition to his book Health Care Revolt , he has published widely in the medical literature, mostly about health policy. As a fiction writer, he has published short stories and poems in the US and the UK. He served as a medical officer for Kenya and worked as a volunteer during the Liberian Civil War, the subject of Abundance , his first novel.

The Providence Journal calls Abundance , "Suavely and elegantly fashioned...A thinking man's thriller that makes Fine... the Ocean State’s own John le Carré."

This program is free and open to the public.
