Christmas is a time for taking stock, counting blessings, seeing loved ones and eating pie... all good things. At Community Living Trent Highlands we revel in the season. In every corner of the agency there is a sense of making a merry time for people in whichever way they choose to celebrate.
And in reflecting on our blessings this time of year, we find that we have so many. There are the wonderful families with whom we work. There are those we support, who guide and teach us so much about best lives lived and goals worth making. There are rich, diverse and talented staff teams who are learning, working and walking alongside to help make dreams come true. At Christmas and all times we can acknowledge that we work in three rich, connected and engaging communities, with partners who collaborate with us in big and small ways.
One of my favourite Christmas songs is Good King Wenceslas; I love its lyric about walking through the snow in the master’s footfalls. I ponder this image as I think about our work. We do nothing in isolation, and there is always a way to follow the path of another as we work to make great things happen - follow the initiative of a family, the dreams of a person, the wonderful creativity of a staff team, look to leaders in our communities to forge the path that we can follow in what makes neighbourhoods great.
We are working, striving and dreaming about ways to be better, and to do better things, in 2020. Happy Christmas to all from everyone at Community Living Trent Highlands, from our family to yours.
