Practicing Gratitude

As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on gratitude!

Research shows that regularly expressing gratitude can lower stress, improve mood, strengthen relationships, and even enhance physical health. Gratitude shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s meaningful.

Ways to cultivate gratitude this month:

  • Keep a Gratitude Journal: Write 2-3 things you’re thankful for each day
  • Send a note or message of appreciation to someone
  • Make a “gratitude ritual”
  • Reflect on challenges and lessons, and note what growth they brought

Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Learn more about Lung Cancer Awareness Month:

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month: Learn

and Support

In November we focus on Lung Cancer Awareness. The American Lung Association says the goal is to inform the public about the risks associated with lung cancer, the importance of early detection, and the available resources and support for patients and their loved ones. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer however, factors like air pollution, secondhand smoke, and genetic predisposition can also affect non-smokers. November 11, 2025, is a day for Americans to recognize our Veterans. There are about 18 million veterans in the United States today.

The Veterans Affairs office offers a teachers resource pack filled with activities and resources for use with your students.

Engaging students in discussion about the Veterans who make up our communities will hopefully encourage more appreciation for our freedoms and recognition of the opportunities possible in a military career.

Join the Movement to End Hunger and Homelessness November 16-22, 2025
