FLATHEAD AND LAKE COUNTY STATISTICS
|
|
Hello Friends and Clients!
With Thanksgiving around the corner along with shorter days and colder weather, I'm sure food is on our brains. It is on mine. I wanted to share an anniversary meal I made for John and me last week. I think it is a great alternative to turkey or/and it makes a wonderful winter treat. Tuscan veal chop with fall squash galette and a wine pairing of Chateau Montelena 2008. Delicious!
Speaking of weather, we got a doozy of a snow storm in early November with a 48-hour power outage to boot. It was quaint to get out the candles and read by the fire for the first 12 hours but got a bit ripe after that!
How about our real estate market? Interestingly, it's is still strong yet normalizing a bit. Above you will find the current stats as compared to one year ago. When we compare Flathead County, we find that the number of Homes for Sale and Days on Market are up from 2021 meaning we have more inventory and the properties are staying on the market longer. For sellers, you'll notice the median price per home is also up. Bottom line, our market price is holding with more inventory coming up and more homes coming on the market under $1 million.
If you are are looking to sell or buy a property, I have a myriad of resources and a great team. Our experience, consistent record and excellent negotiating skills will successfully lead you toward a sale at the right price or help you find the perfect home. The Lang Team is here to make your real estate dreams come true whatever they are, wherever you are.
Another perk for you, as a luxury home seller, is our exclusive membership in Forbes Global Properties. What does this mean? When you list your luxury, high end property, your home will be opened up to the international market. Click here to view Bigfork properties on the Forbes website providing access to the entire Forbes network. Here's another advantage. Maybe you have always wanted to have a home in Florida, France, Hawaii or the place of your dreams. I can use my Forbes Global Properties referral network to connect you with an expert and knowledgeable Realtor in many national and international markets. Let's talk!
From our home to yours, we wish you the happiest of Thanksgivings and thank each of you for your friendship. This is truly a season of gratitude for our blessings and living in a place we cherish.
As ever, Denise

Funny Real Estate Stories
"Buffet Blunder"
A house that smells like cookies could be a selling point…except when the buyers eat all the cookies. When Marilyn Berney was selling her home, she left the house so a realtor could do a showing. When she returned, all that was left of the cookies she’d had cooling for her family were crumbs.
On a similar note, Isoldi recalls, “During our office preview of a listing, we were excited that the owner left out an entire spread of food for us. As I was walking out of the house with a bunch of grapes, the seller pulled up and asked what we were doing. She was hosting a bridge group, and we had eaten all their food!

Ceri says...Corgis have such an interesting background. Did you know that Welsh legend says the fairies and elves of Wales used the Pembroke Welsh Corgi to pull fairy coaches, work fairy cattle, and serve as the steed for fairy warriors? That’s right, if you look closely, you can see the marks of the “fairy saddle” over the shoulders of my Corgi coat. Of course, I was originally bred to herd cattle, sheep, and horses. I’m also great with kids, extremely loyal, and eager to please. I like my folklore though, I think it makes me and my pals very interesting house mates. And in case you have any fairies around, be sure and introduce me! Click on the picture to learn more.

Denise's Cooking Corner - BLT Bucatini
|
|
If you like BLT’s and you like pasta then you’ll LOVE Domenica Marchetti’s recipe for BLT Bucatini! Here is where America's favorite sandwich gets an Italian makeover, with pasta standing in for the bread, pancetta for the bacon and spicy arugula for the lettuce.
This recipe is adapted from Marchetti's cookbook, The Glorious Pasta of Italy. It starts off with slow roasted cherry tomatoes. Then you’ll saute the pancetta to a perfect crisp, continue on with your sauce and then toss in the Bucatini (long pasta with a hole through the center). It ends with a generous dose of arugula and pecorino.

Denise's Book Corner - Two Nights in Lisbon by Chris Pavone
|
|
The recently married Ariel Pryce wakes up one morning in a Lisbon hotel room, expecting her husband, John Wright, to be in bed beside her. He isn’t. She looks for a note, tries calling him, queries hotel staff, all to no avail. She calls Portuguese police and then the American Embassy, who wonder at first if Ms. Pryce isn’t some crazy lady wasting everyone’s time.
A lot starts happening and fast. Ariel receives a ransom demand for 3 million euros to be delivered within 48 hours for John’s safe release by unknown captors. The CIA knows that John is not who he claims to be and thinks that Ariel "must be more important than she’s letting on.” For one thing, she changed her name from Laurel Turner. Then, a nosy American reporter starts poking around and the plot gets to be more and more suspenseful.
Moving between past and present and among the viewpoints of Ariel and her several observers, Chris Pavone uses short scenes to build fast-paced tension. Who is behind the kidnapping, and why? Surprise builds on surprise, as someone is trying to uncover a horrible secret from the past.
"I can assure you that Two Nights In Lisbon is a page turner for cold nights by the fireplace."
