Solemnity of All Saints - November 1, 2020
Have You Met a Saint in Your Life Yet?
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Greetings from Fr. Saju!

This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. What will your answer be, if someone asked you, "Have you ever met a saint?"? I tell my friends, if you have not met a saint yet, you will never meet one. Many of our meetings with saints go unnoticed. The reason is a obvious - because we are looking not for saints but for perfect persons. Where in the Bible do you find that saints are prefect? Christian theology teaches us that only God is perfect. In that case, who are saints?

None of the virtues mentioned in the beatitudes are virtues of Superman, none are virtues of the heroes of fiction. They are not the virtues of a person saturated with a sense of his or her own importance, but of a person saturated with the consciousness of God.

Instead of looking for perfect persons or superheroes, perhaps, if we start to look for persons saturated with consciousness of God, love, humanity, and compassion, we may realize that we meet many saints everywhere.

My prayer is that may you meet many saints. Above all, may you be able to recognize and celebrate the saints living in your midst and those saints that have gone before.

With great love and respect to many of you saints in my life,

Fr. Saju

NEWS & UPDATES
CANOPIES NEEDED FOR OUTDOOR MASS
In preparation for the winter season, and with the unknown logistics changes due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the parish and Pastoral Council thought that purchasing two 30'x40' canopies would be beneficial in helping us safely serve the community. We plan to continue offering indoor Masses, as well as outdoor Masses (as long as permitted). As we enter the winter season, with the threat of rain, the canopies will allow us to continue with our outdoor Masses. With the help of the Men's Club, we placed the order last week with an anticipated ship date in December. We need your financial support for this unforeseen purchase. The Men's Club has graciously committed to helping us with a donation of $3,000, and with the setup of the tents.
The total amount needed is: $11,215.15.
After the donation from the Men's Club, we still need $8,215.15. Please prayerfully consider supporting fully or partially the canopies for outdoor Mass. Thank you!!

Prayer for the Election Year of a President
God of mercy, our nation is in a time of great transition.
With all of the injustice and fear in our world today, we ask you to inspire us and guide us as we participate in the upcoming presidential elections.
We seek a government that upholds and protects human rights and justice for all its citizens, regardless of race, class, gender, or religion.
Move and inspire us by your presence among us in the most vulnerable in our society.
For their tears are your tears, their pain is your pain, their suffering is your suffering.
In gratitude for the right to vote, we pray.

FAMILY REFLECTION AND ACTION
November 1, 2020 All Saints Day
Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14 • 1 John 3:1-3 • Matthew 5:1-12a

“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.” —Matt. 5:12
Today is a great day of hope in the Church. We remember and celebrate all the men and women who have gone before us… the saints. Many of them had difficult lives, suffering for their love and faith in Jesus. All of them lived lives of great example. They showed us how to live out the beatitudes (also from today’s Gospel). They taught us how to pray and live lives pleasing to God. May we be inspired by them and strive to also live lives that will be pleasing to God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you not only for your Son who lived the perfect example in life, but also for all the saints who continue to reinforce Jesus’ teachings.
Find out about our parish patron saint, St. Martin of Tours. How did he show his love for Jesus?
