Sunday Service - 11:00 AM - Sanctuary | "Zen and The Art of Living" | |
Though there is often a great mystery and fear around the topic of death, what if the way to be truly alive is by
accepting, and even embracing, the truth that our life is not forever? Join us this Sunday as we explore what the
Buddha called, 'our greatest teacher,' and how the way to overcome the fear of death is through being fully alive
and enjoying the present moment.

November: A Month of Gratitude
This month, our youth are exploring gratitude as a spiritual practice, beyond saying “I’m grateful” to noticing why something matters and how it feels. Our intention for the month is simply to notice more of what matters. Remember why it matters. Make room to feel grateful.
Sunday, November 1: Cultivating a Gratitude Practice Today, youth will talk about what gratitude really means through the lens of Unity Principle 3. Youth will then create their own gratitude journal, and Uniteens/YOUers will be invited to participate in a November Gratitude Journal challenge! Unity teaches that we create our experiences by what we choose to think, feel and believe. When we practice noticing the good, we shape how we experience our days.
Try this at home: Each morning or evening in November, your youth will write three things they’re grateful for and why. Encourage them to keep their journal by their bed, and if they miss a day, they can simply begin again. You might even ask at dinner, “What are you grateful for today, and why?” (click the image above to open pdf and join us in this practice)

Book Recommendation from our Youth Director:
Water Bugs and Dragonflies is one of my picks because it helps kids talk about loss in a gentle, hopeful way. We read it with our youth at our Remembrance Circle, and it opened up tender conversations about missing someone and how love stays with us. It reminds us that love never ends.
The story gently shows that death can be a change, not an ending. The waterbug who climbs out of the water doesn’t disappear. He becomes a dragonfly, something new and beautiful, in a world his friends below can’t yet imagine. It reassures children that the one who goes is okay, that missing someone is natural, and that love continues. In Unity, we believe the bright, loving spirit inside each of us never goes away.
Love, Erin

BIRTHDAY SUNDAYS
It's a YFL tradition to celebrate Birthdays on the first Sunday every month. Participants get to make/wear a special crown if they choose, and everyone gets to a delicious treat while singing and sharing a group blessing.
Birthdays are important to us. We want our community to feel seen and cared for; celebrating them is one simple way we remind them that they matter.
If you're able to help, please consider signing up to bring a treat. Thank you for being part of making this fun and meaningful!
Please sign-up HERE.
Our next Birthday Sunday is November 1st.
