MEET OUR NEW BISHOP
Bishop Carlo Rapanut
|
Dear Friends in the Desert Southwest Conference,
This will be short and sweet. As you would imagine, it has been quite the week for us. Yet I don’t want to let this day pass without sharing even a brief greeting. By now you may have already heard the news of my assignment to serve alongside you in ministry in the DSW as your bishop in the new year. Your delegation has warmly welcomed us on your behalf. We are so excited to get to know all of you and your communities and to see, hear and experience how God is moving in and through you and to discern how we can be part of that journey! I pray that you would receive this note with the same deep sense of joy and hope in which I write it.
Parabur ken kappia (Grace and peace),
Bishop Carlo, Radie, Caleb and Titus

The Taizé service comes from the ecumenical community of Taizé, France. Gathered in the presence of Christ, this is a time of meditative common prayer. During the service, we sing uncomplicated, repetitive songs, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become known through the beauty of simplicity. In between the chants we have a Scripture reading followed by silence. During this silence, we allow the Word to sink deep into our hearts. Brother John, a Taizé monk, tells us, “Taizé is time to rest in God, to let the words listened to and sung penetrate one’s being.” The next Taizé Service will be held in Fellowship Hall this Sunday, November 13 at 4pm. | |
