FEAST DAY GREETINGS FORM PASTOR
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Wish you a blessed feast of St. Martins! I look forward to seeing you all for the feast day celebrations and the candlelit procession on Saturday at 5.00 PM.
A soldier, a conscientious objector who wanted to be a monk, a monk who was maneuvered into being a bishop, a bishop who fought paganism as well as pleaded for mercy to heretics—such was Martin of Tours, one of the most popular of saints and one of the first not to be a martyr.
As the story is told, he encountered a shivering beggar on a cold winter night. Without any money in his pockets, but determined to help, he took off his cloak and slashed it with his sword to give half of it to the beggar. Later that night he saw a vision in which Jesus Christ was wearing the half-cloak. As a result of this vision, he became a follower of Jesus and was baptized into the Church. Ultimately, he left the army to devote his life in service to the Church and ultimately became the patron saint of the French kings of the Middle Ages.
As a result of his status as a leading servant, St. Martin’s cloak or cappella was carried into battle by the kings as a banner signifying “the presence of God.” But since the cappella was a sacred relic of the church, a priest always accompanied the cloak as it care-taker. This keeper of the cloak, or cappellanus, also tended to the king’s religious needs, and from his office the role of the “chaplain” was derived. Over time, wherever St. Martin’s capella was “housed” also become a place of worship known as the “chapel.”
The feast of St. Matin invite us as a community to be a capella, a church that will give comfort and care.
Blessings,
Fr. Saju & Fr. Gener

CONGRATULATIONS TO CAMILLE MUTH!
Camille received the St. Maria Goretti Award. She exemplifies the love of Christ through her character and living out the virtues of faith, hope, and charity. Camille is particularly sensitive to the people who are experiencing trails and hopelessness. She gives feely without expecting anything in return.
Her family having actively serving this community since 2008. She has become a role model for her siblings and friends. She looks forward to serving at Sunday Mass. She loves everything the parish and parishioners offer. She envisions St. Martin of Tours becoming a more robust community when they reach out to younger age groups as she sees the importance of seeing young people active in the parish.
