A Message from Camp E-Nini-Hassee | |
In October, the Women of Hope breakfast program highlighted Camp E-Nini-Hasssee. At that time, Chief Jo Lynn Smith, Director and four young ladies - Adrienne, Morgan, Caidence and Winnie - shared their time and stories with the ladies who attended.
We extend a THANK YOU to all who represented Hope Lutheran Church and provided many needed items for those who live at the camp. A very moving thank you was sent from each of the four girls and Chief Jo. The notes tell much about how each girl rose to speak and how they supported each other. We would like to share this one:
Dear Women of Hope, I was greatly honored and pleased to be able to speak in front of you all! I've never felt so welcomed and invited. All of you are very kind ladies! It was amazing to be somewhere where I could share so openly and without fear of judgment. I can see the great work God has done with you all. The food was great, the people and presence of God was even greater! You role modeled to all of us a healthy life and healthy giving. WE THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for everything you gave us and donated! For some of us it means a lot, for most of us it means the world. Forever grateful, Winnie.
E-Nini-Hassee is an outdoor therapeutic camp for troubled girls ages 12 to 18. The program assists girls considered at-risk who are struggling with school, causing family conflicts, experimenting with drugs, experiencing depression, have low self-esteem, or are exhibiting emotional problems and behavioral issues. In the Seminole Indian language, E-Nini-Hassee means "Her Sunny Road".
You can find more information by visiting www.EckerdHelpsGirls.org.
Thank you for all your support for the Women of Hope's Missions.

Annual Thankoffering Service & Breakfast
Thursday, November 18th at 9:30am
Hope Central Campus
It's time for Hope's annual Thankoffering and Breakfast! Breakfast will begin at 9:30am in the Fellowship Hall at Hope Central Campus. The cost is $7.00 per person. Our menu will include link sausage and bacon, gravy and biscuits, egg casserole, assorted fruit, bagels and pastries, and yogurt. Following the breakfast we will proceed to the Sanctuary for our Thankoffering Service at 11:00am.
Each year the Women of Hope hosts a THANKOFFERING SERVICE. We are inviting all members of the congregation to attend -- men and women. This service is a tradition grounded in the celebration of community and of meeting together to joyfully give thanks for what God has given us. A blessed opportunity to begin the season of Thanksgiving with family, friends and to share with others in worship service.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15th at Noon.
Thankofferings have always been and still are an opportunity to say THANK YOU to God in both significant and ordinary moments. All offerings from this service are forwarded to the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) to support missions and ministry of the Churchwide Women's Organization (CWO).
We look forward to your participation in this service and encourage you to attend. Invite your friends! Attending the service only at 11:00am is optional. Questions? Contact Virginia Robertson at (612) 619-0220 or Margaret Furlong at (352) 430-5092.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Thank you to all who participated in the Prayer Shawl Ministry throughout the past difficult 18 months. You produced a large number of prayer shawls, especially for the upcoming Blue Christmas service, as well as hundreds of the pocket prayer patches for the Angel Tree project! You are a blessing to many! Our next meeting is not until the first Monday in February, so there is time to replenish our supply of gifts.
Prayer Shawls and Lap Robes are available at all Hope campuses; you can find them in the Information Hallway at Hope Central Campus, in the Narthex at hope Lake Weir Campus, and at Hope at the Everglades Rec Center.
If you have a family member, friend, or neighbor who is in need of comfort and assurance they are not alone, please take one for them. You will find it to be a very gratifying experience as you share love and hope with those in need.

Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinners at Hope Lake Weir Campus Food Pantry
As you make your preparations for the Holidays, please think of our Food Pantry recipients. This is a difficult time for many families because expenses increase at this time of year.
We would like to provide a nice meal for our families, and a special donation for a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal would be greatly appreciated. Our Food Pantry has partnered with the Rock to assist Lake Weir Middle School families with a Christmas meal. If you would like to give a monetary donation to provide a meal, please designate your check or offering envelope as "Food Pantry Meal." Food can be dropped off at all three campuses.
Please note: If you attend worship at Hope at the Everglades Rec Center, please only bring food donations on Sundays. Food cannot be stored at the Rec Center during the week.
