Thank You For Joining Us Today

We are most grateful to welcome you to our Sunday worship. We wish you God's blessings and love for this day.

We hope that you can feel part of the Cathedral community wherever you are in your life's journey. Know that this is a place of welcome and love for all.

The church is so much more than a building or our Sunday services. At the core of the body of the church is each of you. God’s love and compassion which you carry out into the world from this place, is the living church.

Blessings to you.

  Sincerely,

Dean Shambaugh and the Cathedral Community.

Old Testament Roots of Jesus Study

Sunday Mornings|8:45am-9:45am

Location: The Chapter Room

Contact: The Rev. Dr. Bob Hanson

We begin our own analyses of God’s persona by searching the Biblical messages of the 27 Old Testament book's authors.

By considering the historic times, places, events and major personalities of each period we can begin to identify and interpret the major characteristics, attitudes and values that constitute YahWeh's self- revelation.

Spotlight: St. Elizabeth's Essentials Pantry

The Feast Day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary and

St. Elizabeth's Essentials Pantry

This week we are celebrating the Feast Day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. In recognition of this liturgical season, we are highlighting the impactful work of St. Elizabeth's Essentials Pantry which is an intricate part of the St. Luke's community as well as the entire Diocese of Maine.

Please read below to learn more about St. Elizabeth's as well as testimonials written by St. Luke's Parishioners who give their time to the pantry in service of others.

What is St. Elizabeth's Essentials Pantry

St. Elizabeth’s is a low-barrier pantry serving non-food essentials to all those in need, including new Mainers and Mainers whose families have been here for generations.  It is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine.  St. Luke’s generously shares their space with the Pantry.

Donate and Get Involved with St. E's

From Martha Parshley:

Often when I hear about a cause or a group doing good work I think “That is really nice, but I am not sure what I can do about it.” Think of the St E Donation Card like a postcard that you can stick on your fridge as a reminder of how you can take action and be part of the good work we are doing. Consider buying a package of diapers, or finding a coat or sweater from your closet or some children’s books you might have tucked away and bring them to church on a Sunday or

drop them off at St E’s on a Tuesday morning. Our neighbors and all of the St E volunteers will be grateful for your support.

Gus Goodwin

Carmen, Christine, Sunday, Sarah, Christo, Lionel and Anthony are some of the names that I know. There are many more who I don’t know by name, but do know their faces.

Elizabeth Byrd Wood

I am a believer in “ant power.” Just like an ant colony, a collective effort by many people can bring about change.  As individuals, we can’t solve the problems of poverty, food insecurity, or homelessness single-handedly.

I have been volunteering at St. E’s since I retired. That makes it ten years now. Highlighting the Pantry for St. Luke’s has made me think about why I have been so committed to this service.
