HSC Helps Carl Find a Home

Carl is a 45 year old man who came to HSC's Brian Garcia Welcome Center seeking assistance a few weeks ago. He had experienced homelessness off and for nearly ten years. In March of 2022, Carl landed a good job and was able to afford his own apartment for over a year.

Unfortunately, in April of 2023, Carl was diagnosed with meningitis and was hospitalized for over a month. The situation caused him to lose his job and he was evicted from his home. Carl stated he had been sleeping on the streets since May. HSC Staff inquired if he had family who might be willing to take him in. HSC Staff spoke with Carl's brother in South Carolina, who was very happy to have him come live with him until he was able to find employment and a home of his own. Staff purchased a bus ticket, provided transportation to the bus station and confirmed that Carl arrived safely in South Carolina. We wish him a future of health, happiness, and home.
