From the Desk of Father Tiano
Dear Friends,
Above all, let us not forget to thank: if we are bearers of gratitude, the world itself will become better, even if only a little bit, but that is enough to transmit a bit of hope.
The world needs hope. And with gratitude, with this habit of saying thank you, we transmit a bit of hope. Everything is united and everything is connected, and everyone needs to do his or her part wherever we are. (Pope Francis, December 30, 2020)
Gratitude is a way of life. During this Thanksgiving month it is a good thing to be grateful to God for the blessings in our life. Our lives can be difficult and challenging, yet if we are honest there are so many gifts that we are given each and every day.
A grateful heart is always turned toward others; if we are grateful we cannot help wanting to share our lives and our gifts with those around us. We are united one to another and gratitude is the bridge that connects us.
We live in a world that is separated and divided; we live in a world where anger and rancor rear their ugly heads all so often. Our hearts are darkened by a sense that we are not given our due, or not given what we think we deserve or desire. That darkness pervades us and we cease to be builders of God’s kingdom, rather we tear down and destroy. Hope is the casualty in all of us. The darkness obscures the hope that we are called to live our lives.
Gratitude is the simple solution. A grateful heart means we are connected to God and to others. A grateful heart helps make the world better. I am grateful for each and every one of you and for
all you do for our parish. I am grateful that my own life journey has brought me to Hamden and I am grateful for all that our new parish can do.
