HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE

The 38th Annual Dayspring Preschool and Kindergarten Holiday Boutique is from 9am-7pm this Friday, November 17, and 9am-4pm this Saturday, November 18. Featuring more than 50 local vendors, food, raffles, entertainment and more, this is our preschool’s primary fundraiser and helps the school pay for things that are outside of the operating budget (including financial aid, playground equipment, professional development for teachers, books for the library, and more!)

BORDERLANDS PRODUCE RESCUE

The 2023-24 Borderlands Produce Rescue season is just around the corner. Dayspring partners with Borderlands to bring unsold fresh produce from regional farms directly to our neighborhoods. Starting the third Saturday of November, we will host a monthly event for the Arcadia neighborhood. Volunteers are needed to pack food boxes of approximately 70lbs. This is a great chance to spend time in the neighborhood, interact with neighbors, reduce food waste and bring healthy food to local families. Our next event is November 18 from 6:00 - 11am. If you’re interested, please email Amy.

STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY

The Dayspring congregation helps to offer compassion in action by taking care of one another when someone is hurting or in need or when we share our resources to assist those in desperate situations. We know that abundance isn't genuine abundance until it is shared by all, so we are committed to including everyone through justice and love. We raise our voices against inequity, discrimination, and biases experienced by those we call neighbors. We live out our mission of working to make God's world more peaceful, just, compassionate and inclusive.

Please plan on joining us this Sunday, November 19, for our combined Stewardship and Thanksgiving Sunday service at 10:00am. During the service, we will ask you to bring our pledge cards forward to show our commitment to the future work of our church. You can also fill out a pledge online.

BISHOP CARLO AT DAYSPRING

Bishop Carlo Rapanut will lead worship with our pastoral staff and the combined choirs during the 10:00 service on Thanksgiving Sunday, November 19. He will also hold a Q&A Session in the Fellowship Hall following the service on the future of the United Methodist Church.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

Our annual food drive is Sunday, November 19. We will have a refrigerated truck in the parking lot to collect donations (including frozen turkeys!) for the United Food Bank in Mesa. Last year’s Fall Food Drive collected 2,533 pounds of food, including dozens of turkeys!

TAIZÉ SERVICE

During a Taizé service, we sing uncomplicated, repetitive songs, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become known through the beauty of simplicity. Email Pastor Shirley for more information. The next service is Sunday, November 19 at 4pm in the Fellowship Hall.

SUNDAY LUNCH BUNCH

Dayspring Lunch Bunch members join together for lunch following Sunday services. We share fun, fellowship and support. We will have the lunch location noted on the sign up sheet in the Tempe Narthex. Email lunch@dayspringumc.org for more information. All are welcome.

This week Lunch Bunch will meet at Manuel's Tempe at Southern east of the 101. Please note, this is a change from what was previously communicated.

TEMPE INTERFAITH THANKSGIVING

Join Tempe Interfaith Fellowship for their annual Thanksgiving Interfaith Service on Tuesday, November 21st, 7 pm at St. Augustine's Episcopal Parish at College and Broadway. There is also an option to view the service online HERE.

CANTILENA CONCERT

Mark your calendars to join the Arizona Cantilena Chorale at 4:00 next Sunday, November 26, for a fun concert of American and Jazz Standards! There should be a little something for everyone – invite your family and friends! Free admission and no tickets required, donations requested.

CALLING FOR A CLIMATE-FORWARD ARIZONA

The Dayspring S.A.G.E. team and Arizona Interfaith Power & Light invite members to join an interfaith gathering at our Tempe campus on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to discuss how people of faith can work together to offer a prophetic voice for climate progress right here in Arizona. Guest speaker Blaise Caudill from the Governor’s Office of Resiliency will join us to speak about energy efficiency programs in the state. Attendees will include people from congregations across the Valley, with Zoom participation by others living in Prescott and Tucson. For more information, contact Maureen Rojas or Mark Huntington.

HOPEKIDS TOY DRIVE

Dayspring Tempe is a drop-off site for the HopeKids Holiday Toy Drive this year. New, unwrapped toys can be delivered to the box in the narthex by December 3 and will be delivered to Arizona families in financial need who have a child battling a life-threatening medical condition. Learn more

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY BOOKS

The mission of Little Free Libraries is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led Little Free Library locations. We are collecting new and gently used books to refill the Little Free Library by our Giving Garden. Current children’s books are in the highest demand, as are young adult fiction. Please bring donations to the church office.

INTRODUCING THE LOVE DUCK

Look for and Share a Little Love…

During our annual All Church Conference, our District Superintendent Melissa Rynders gifted Dayspring a Love Duck to share. This duck will be hiding in a pew starting this Sunday, for someone to find. If you find it, note the church name, The Bridge, on the back. Offer a prayer for this church which is in our district. Next, you can pass the love around by placing it somewhere else in the church sanctuary before you leave. Let’s see how far our love can go for the rest of 2023!
