Tighter Tier 3 COVID-19 Restrictions Announced for All of Illinois Starting November 20
November 17, 2020
Governor Pritzker's office announced today that stricter Tier 3 COVID-19 mitigations will go in effect for the entire State of Illinois starting this Friday, November 20. While these mitigations fall short of a mandated stay-at-home order, they impose tougher restrictions on the number of people allowed at a time in retail stores, personal care service businesses, health and fitness centers, and hotels. The mitigations also close casinos and theaters, and move all recreational sports outdoors with a 10-person limit. Outdoor dining, elective surgeries, and salon and spa services that allow for masks to be worn will be allowed to continue under Tier 3 mitigations.
Governor Pritzker is asking Illinoisans to stay at home as much as possible and to wear face coverings if they do need to interact in public. "This is not a stay-at-home order," Governor Pritzker said during his briefing this afternoon. "But the best way to avoid a stay-at-home order is to stay at home."
