A Message from Superintendent Layton
Congratulations to the MHS Tigers and Coaches on a great season. Don't stop now!

Basketball is in full swing at high school and middle school. Check out the calendars and go watch these amazing teams.

MISD will have a FAN BUS for the game against Jefferson in Gladewater on Thursday night. Sign up with Ms. Coleman at the high school to ride.

We are all on the countdown to Thanksgiving break. MISD would like to wish your family a blessed Thanksgiving.

WE BELIEVE! Get your claws up!

As much as we love our transfer students, we must close the following grade levels for transfers at this time:

TES Honor Veterans
The morning meeting was full of learning about Veterans and why we have a holiday to honor them soon after that we loaded the buses for
TES students in grades PK - 5th to participate in the Seven Points Veterans Day Parade. First grade made individual posters for the parade while 3rd grade made a sign with all of their handprints to support our Veterans. The students and staff had a great time supporting our Veterans and returned to the school for a sack lunch picnic with their teachers.
G/T Students to Perot Museum

Congratulations to all of the students for another great six weeks full of AWESOME learning.
Our Gifted and Talented students will be headed out on a field trip to the Perot Museum and we look forward to hearing about their experience. This past week they spent time in the science lab creating the best possible parachute for their eggs. Mr. Snyder and Mrs. King do a great job with our TES GT!
Granny Calhoun Stops by for Art Time
T he Granny Calhoun party was a great success! Over 140 students in grades PK - 5th enjoyed the Granny Calhoun Painting Party! The students did a great job creating their masterpieces!
(Stacy - I will send you pics Friday after the party for this portion) - The party starts at 1:30 if you want to come take pics?? We should have a finished picture about 2:30 or so.

Wonderful Veteran's Day Program
I want to personally thank all of those that assisted with the MES Veteran’s Day Program. It was amazing! I also want to thank all of the Veterans who attended and all Veterans for their service. It was a packed house and we hope next year we will have even more Veterans attend!

Just a reminder to always bring a picture ID if you wish to visit the MES campus. This is required to receive a MES Visitors Badge. All visitors will only be allowed to visit the specific location in which they have signed in for.

November 20th the students and parents will receive a Thanksgiving Lunch from the awesome folks in the cafeteria. More information will be provided. Please RSVP by November 18th using the forms that will be sent home with your child.

2nd Six Weeks Awards Assembly will be Thursday, November 21. Times for each grade level will be sent home with your child.
MES Visitor Entry Procedure Change

To Whom It May Concern:

Beginning on Monday, November 4, 2019, the procedure to enter the Malakoff Elementary campus will change. All visitors that intend on entering the campus will be required to exchange their photo identification for an MES Visitor Badge. No visitor will be allowed past the office unless they have a MES Visitor Badge. When a visitor has completed their visit on campus, they will come to the front desk and exchange their visitors badge for their picture identification before leaving campus. We hope all parents/guardians will support this change. This security measure is to ensure that all persons on campus have gone through the procedure of properly identifying themselves and have properly checked in. Please help us in ensuring the safety of all students and staff at Malakoff Elementary.

Sincerely,

Chris Robinson
Principal,
