This Sunday is Giving Sunday. While we are not gathered in person, please take time to complete your pledge online here or mail your card back today. Take a moment to reflect on how Colonial Church has changed your life, and how you have participated in changing the lives of others through your gifts of time and financial support. Because of your dedicated support and the gifts of our leadership, Colonial Church has been able to adapt and respond to new needs, new ways of ministry, new ways to bless those within our congregation and our community. Colonial Church has been changing lives all year long.

One of our very special partners is Sheffield Place. Sheffield Place is an organization that allows mothers and children who would otherwise be without a roof over their heads to become self-sufficient.
The moms and kids of Sheffield Place are special. If you’ve ever helped with Molly’s Table, you know what I mean. Usually, in December I get to drive the Moms on a tour of Christmas lights. It is absolutely one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Just because we can’t do the light tour this year doesn’t mean that our love and support stops!
This year, our own Jim Cosgrove emceed the Sheffield Place annual online gala. Many Colonial Church households were in on that great evening. Our work with Sheffield Place is truly a blessing.
Here’s more...

And, if you’ve heard from any one of the moms, you know how lives are changed because of Colonial Church’s ministry. And, that is because of people like you. Thank you.
This is what we do as Colonial Church. We change lives. We need your support to continue that. You may have received a letter asking for your pledge of support for the coming year. You can return that card or make your pledge by clicking below.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6
The council has scheduled a congregational meeting for 9:15 a.m. between services on Sunday, December 6. Two items are on the agenda:
- Approve the funding of $15,000 from the Pemberton Trust funds to complete work on repairing the water damage in the lower level.
- Increase the budget limit for expenditures requiring congregational approval from $10,000 to $20,000 to accommodate the rising maintenance costs of an aging building and increasing rates of skilled trades such as plumbers. An increasing number of issues are arising with our physical plant requiring outside contractors to repair.

New COVID-Prevention Guidelines for Colonial Church
Our area is experiencing record increases in COVID cases and COVID-related deaths, so Colonial Church is doing its part to slow transmission. The church council decided that starting Monday, November 23, the building will close to groups. Staff members will shift some hours to home. We ask for your cooperation as we work to stay safe. Thank you.

Spread Christmas Spirit
Colonial Church has been blessed with an extremely generous gift to share this Christmas season, and we need your help.
From now until Christmas, Colonial will grant $100 from the Pemberton Charitable Foundation to any Colonial household to support a charity or need of your choice. You can use the money anywhere as long as it helps someone.
The only stipulation is that you let us know who received your gift and why. You can write a note, draw a picture, make a short video — however you want to express your message. With your permission, Colonial Church will use your message in Sunday services, the Crier newsletter, and other ways. To opt into this extraordinary opportunity and receive your $100, click here. The deadline is December 20.
Let’s spread the gift of Christmas good news throughout our community!

In past few years we have been able to share Colonial's Thanksgiving meal with families from the Dialogue Institute of Kansas City who are refugees from Turkey. We have reunited with friends and made new ones as we shared time together. This year we can turn to technology to help us celebrate with some who are new to this special western world holiday.
Let us know that you would like to participate and we will connect you with a family via Zoom to be a part of your Thanksgiving Day. Send your name to Julie at [email protected] or Mariam Fleming at [email protected]

Once again, Colonial will be collecting new toys for Operation Breakthrough’s holiday store. The gift giving will be a little different this year due to COVID. Instead of a tree in the narthex to select ornaments from, go to the Operation Breakthrough Gift Registry to choose toys to purchase.
Place the unwrapped toys in the box outside the church entrance by the office door before 4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday. We need the gifts by November 30. Gift cards should be mailed to Colonial Church, 7039 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
If you need help getting the toys or gift cards to the church, contact Cindy Burgdorfer at 630-776-0511 or [email protected].

Colonial Women Rummage Fundraiser
Because of concerns about COVID-19, Colonial Women is hosting a rummage collection rather than the usual sale. The goal is to raise $1,000, which means about 5,000 pounds of items! Savers will pay us by the pound for quality items.
Goal – To reach the goal we need about 2,500 pounds of soft goods and 2,500 pounds of hard goods (although soft goods are preferred). To reach that requires:
- 250 13-gallon white trash bags of soft goods
- 200 boxes of hard goods
See progress below. Let Marylee Battaglia know how many bags or boxes you have collected so we can see progress toward the goal.

Books are also being collected for a book sale in the spring. We have 7 boxes so far.
Collection – April 11, 2021
Bring your items on Sunday, April 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Everything will be loaded directly into a truck and taken to Savers the following day. Start collecting your items now so we have plenty of pounds to deliver to Savers in April. Nothing will be stored at the church.
