This week's service will begin with Discovery Band and Singers singing, How Great is Our God, featuring Carl. To close our service, we will sing Holy Forever, featuring Dianne. These are both familiar to you. Please take a few minutes to listen to these two great songs! We appreciate hearing your voices, whether it be in full voice or just a hum. Or if you prefer, use these moments to breathe and reflect. | | | |

PRESCHOOL ACTIVITIES
We celebrated the end of our Fall Fundraiser with Pie Day! Ms. Debbie volunteered to take a pie in the face for every $1,000 raised.
Together with our Preschool families and generous gifts from HUMC members, we raised $7,211!!
As a result, Ms. Debbie got a pie in the face 7 times! The children had so much fun making the pies and cheering her on!

without you!

The “It’s Not Supposed to be This Way”
Book Study Connection group, gifted Bridges Treatment Center for Children board games for their cottages. They were very excited to receive them.
| | The connection session studying Jesus' Vision for Your One Wild and Precious Life visited the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank last week. We toured the warehouse and then sorted and packed 41 emergency food boxes weighing about 30 pounds each. Here are a couple photos if you would like to use them in the Midweek Mail | | |
Many thanks and manifold blessings to each donor of Coats for Kids. We delivered a box overflowing with warm jackets to the children at Bridges Treatment Center. Clinical Director Dr. Hillary Walsh sends her deepest appreciation and said the kids really need coats right now. She wishes our church family well and thanks us for our generosity. I believe we have the most loving and responsive congregation and Missions Team imaginable!
Gratefully,
Susan and Ricky Jones

Welcome Center on Sunday Mornings!
We are seeking volunteers to help with our Sunday morning hospitality. On Sunday mornings, snacks, coffee, and water are available in the Welcome Center before each service. Pre-packaged snacks are readily available and should be supplemented with fresh items you can easily pick up at your local grocery store. Folks who sign up need to have the Welcome Center ready at 8:45 and clean up after the worship service.More volunteers are needed to buy and put out the snacks on Sunday mornings, make the coffee, and clean up after the worship service (typically takes 15 minutes). More specific directions will be posted in the hospitality kitchen off the narthex. If you can help with hospitality this way, please click the link HERE. Thank you!

You Can Give to Heritage UMC (a Qualified Charity) to satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution!
For 2025, the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) limit is $108,000 per person, and custodians are required to report QCDs separately using Code Y on Form 1099-R. Individuals aged 70½ or older can use a QCD to fulfill their IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while excluding the distribution from income.
2025 QCD limits and rules
- Annual limit: The maximum QCD an individual can make is $108,000.
- Married couples: Both spouses, if they qualify, can each make a QCD of up to $108,000.
- Age requirement: You must be age 70½ or older at the time of the distribution.
- Fulfillment of RMD: A QCD can be used to satisfy your IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year.
- Standard deduction: You can use a QCD even if you do not itemize deductions. The amount distributed is excluded from income, which is often more beneficial than an itemized deduction.
- Reporting requirements: For 2025 tax filings, custodians must report QCDs separately using Code Y in Box 7 of Form 1099-R to help with compliance.
Key takeaways
- Prioritize QCDs: It is generally more tax-efficient to fulfill your RMD with a QCD if possible, as the amount is not taxed.
- Stay organized: Even with the new reporting codes, it is still the taxpayer's responsibility to ensure all QCD requirements are met. Keep all supporting documents, such as acknowledgments from the charity and custodian records.
- Timing is crucial: A QCD for 2025 must be completed by December 31, 2025
