(NHCLC) The Fight for Religious Freedom Begins at Home
As the United States prepares to elect its 45th president, issues surrounding the place of religion in American public life are at the heart of some of the most contentious debates in American culture. There are competing visions of what "religious freedom" means and whether there is any place for religion outside of individual private worship. The implications are numerous, from issues of marriage and abortion, to higher education and business.

Based on the candidates' background, policy statements, and your own analysis, how will they handle issues of domestic religious freedom as the next president of the United States? Read more
PersecutedChurchPentecostal Assemblies of Canada Asks Prayer for Persecuted Church
From November 6 - 13, believers around the globe will pray for the Persecuted Church. We invite you to participate.

Over the past two years, we as a church body have joined in prayer for a fellow brother to be released from prison and this fall we saw this prayer answered first-hand! One of our global workers shared an account of the dangerous reality of living for Jesus in an unnamed country. Allow me to share it with you and be encouraged by what God is doing around the world.

A team of Christian leaders on their way to a prayer meeting were called into the county office. They were interrogated for sharing the truth and for leading a group in their homes. These leaders did not give in to the threats and stood firm in their faith during their interrogation. They were eventually released, but a crowd had gathered and when the leaders emerged five men attacked them with knives.

Ali* was the most severely injured and was stabbed in the chest. Several hours later, Ali's family received a phone call explaining that the injuries were more severe than initially thought and he had passed away. The other group leaders quickly made their way to Ali's house to be with his family. One thing was clear; no one was backing down from their Christian faith or giving up the "good" fight.

Even Ali's wife, despite her immense grief, was standing firm. On this day these words of Jesus became real to all of us: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it" (Luke 9:23-24). In this part of the world, we prepare and train every new believer to understand that their lives could be lost for His name's sake. (Cont.)

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."   Acts 1:8 (NIV)

ContPAOCPentecostal Assemblies of Canada Asks Prayer for Persecuted Church (Cont.)
Continue to pray for the almost 600 new believers in the movement. We are asking the Father of Light to shine brightly through the lives of those walking faithfully with Him and to continue to shout from the rooftops that He is Lord of all! We're asking you and your church to join us in prayer for the persecuted church during the week of November 6 to 13.

We may not know the individuals who are persecuted, but they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Could you take time during your Sunday services, youth ministries, home groups, prayer meetings, and children's ministries to pray for those who are following Jesus in difficult places?

Please pray for strength, perseverance, faith, peace, and spiritual breakthrough. Join us on social media as we post articles, stories and additional resources to keep this great need in front of us. - David Wells, General Superintendent, and Murray Cornelius, Executive Director of International Missions, The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada
