VCC and Sheetz Celebrate Opening of E85 Station in Manassas

Sheetz is celebrating the impact of the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) Biofuel Infrastructure Project Grant with the opening of its 10th E85 and E15 Biofuel station in Virginia.  The Biofuel station opened on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016. Through the Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership, which aims to increase the availability of domestic biofuel in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Sheetz located at 11774 Sudley Manor Drive in Manassas, Va. became the 10th gas station to offer E15 in the state of Virginia. {more}

Department of Transporation Designates Major Interstates in Virginia as Alternative Fuel Corridors
The U.S. Energy Department (DOE) has released a new report showing continued growth in the fuel cell industry and, in honor of National Hydrogen Day, has announced a notice of intent to invest $30 million, subject to appropriations, to advance fuel cell and hydrogen technologies.  {more}

Detroit Diesel to Pay Fine of $28.5 million for Clean Air Act Violations, Support Clean Diesel Project
 
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) have announced a settlement with Detroit Diesel Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America, that resolves alleged violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) for selling heavy-duty diesel engines that were not certified by the EPA and did not meet applicable emission standards.  {more}

Richmond Airport Converts Entire Shuttle Fleet to CNG
Richmond International Airport has completed the conversion of its entire EasyPark shuttle fleet - 21 shuttles - to CNG  {more}

EPA Offers $7 million for Clean School Buses
School Bus   
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the availability of approximately $7 million in rebates to public school bus fleet owners to help them replace or retrofit older school buses with cleaner transportation technology, such as clean diesel, in order to reduce emissions and improve air quality. {more}

Question of the Month: What idle reduction technologies are available for heavy duty vehicles? 
Heavy-duty vehicle idling, or running a vehicle's engine while it is not in motion, occurs for a number of reasons, including temperature control during required rest stops, powering electronic equipment, and to avoid cold starting the vehicle. According to Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne), more than 6 billion gallons of diesel and gasoline fuel are wasted by vehicle engine idling    {more}
