Dear ,

As we head into the holiday season, Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate would like to take a moment to thank everyone for a helping us have a tremendous year. We all have a lot to be thankful for, not the least of which is our community, our clients, customers, friends and family. Thank you all.

We are so fortunate to live in this beautiful place, but it's not an easy life for all of us and there some less fortunate than others. What makes this such an amazing community is the organizations, businesses, and individuals who combine to support one another. This month the newsletter features two such events or organizations - both of which need YOUR support.

* Donate your gently used winter clothing to people in need. Magic Mountain is sponsoring a clothing drive.
* Please consider spending December 2 in Weston - a day of merriment and fun benefiting a local service organization.

Finally, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is Small Business Saturday and we mind you to ALWAYS be local, eat local, stay local, and shop local!

Be well, stay in touch and have a fan-tab-u-lous holiday season!

Most events are free and food and beverages are available for purchase. World Cup at Killington - November 24-26
Returning to Killington for a second year in 2017 is the Audi FIS Ski World Cup! Their snowmakers have been working 'round the clock and skiers and riders are getting ready for the excitement.

Killington will again host the 2017 Alpine World Cup event, which saw record breaking attendance in 2016. The World Cup event will include the women's giant slalom and slalom races and is expected to bring U.S. Ski Team superstars Julia Mancuso, Mikaela Shiffrin and Lindsey Vonn to compete against the best women's technical alpine skiers in the world. There will be a free access viewing area for all fans to enjoy. The free area provides standing room access near the base of the Superstar trail with a jumbo screen for viewing the full race course.

For information on the races, parking and more - go to:

Winter Coat Drive at Magic Mountain - November 18
Help your neighbors stay warm this winter by donating your GENTLY-used winter coats (and mittens, gloves and hats) to Magic Mountain's Winter Coat Drive.
We understand that this is a super-last-minute request, but you can drop items at Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate's Weston office or at the mountain on or before Friday, November 17.
Those in need can participate and pick up winter outdoor clothing at Magic between 9 AM and 12 noon on Saturday, November 18.

Green Mountain Gourmet
We are all adults here, right? So, I hope no one will take offense that the recipe for November is my not-so-secret version of the classic Old Fashioned. It's smoky and sweet and the perfect drink for fall and winter.

Ingredients and equipment:
  • Bulleit bourbon whiskey (Makers Mark or Knob Creek will do)
  • Angostura bitters
  • Sugar Bob's Smoked Maple Syrup
  • Orange
  • Bada Bing Cherries*
  • Ice
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
Everyone will prefer a different combination but my basic recipe is this:
In the shaker, muddle one cherry with a ¼ to ½ inch wide slice of orange (with peel on), add 1+ teaspoon smoked maple syrup and 4-5 dashes of bitters. Stir and then add 2+ oz. bourbon and stir again. Add ice cubes and shake a few times (not too vigorously or you will dilute the drink too much!).
Cheers ~ Enjoy!
P.S. Do NOT use cheap Maraschino cherries - they are awful and will ruin this fine old-fashioned cocktail!
* You can find these at most larger liquor stores or online. Luxardo is another brand, but quite a bit more expensive.

The Quintessential Vermont Farmhouse with 28+ Spectacular Acres
in Weston
91 Old County Road

Do you dream of a quiet and simple life in the country? Come take a look at this completely charming antique farmhouse on 28 acres located just north of Weston village and less than one mile from the beautiful Weston Priory (Benedictine Monastery).
There are wood floors throughout, a master suite on the upper level, and several fireplaces and stoves to keep you warm and toasty on frosty winter nights. Original architectural features abound, but the house as great bones and there have also been lots of recent updates - basement/cellar improvements, standing seam metal roof (2013), new furnace (2014) - that make this a solid investment for your future in Vermont.
A large barn across the road houses your tools (and toys), there is a small pond just below the house and the 28 acres is enrolled in Vermont's Current Use program and the current owners enjoy a significant tax savings as a result.
