UNDERGRADUATE LAW PROGRAM CONSIDERS LEGAL WORLD
FROM ALL ANGLES
|
|
The law is not only a product of government, but is also informed by the social sciences, the arts, and business. Therefore Suffolk’s new
undergraduate law major
will take an interdisciplinary approach that exposes students to all the nuances inherent in legal understanding.
“You need many perspectives and a collaborative effort if you’re interested in the law – how it works and how it doesn’t work,” said
Government
Professor
Mary Flaherty
, (far left) director of the Undergraduate Law program.

SUFFOLK STUDENTS
HEAD INTO THE WILD
|
The Suffolk Experience has no boundaries - a wolf sanctuary could be your student's classroom!
As the bus turns down the winding gravel driveway, the haunting sound of howling - unsettlingly close - welcomes 35 Suffolk University freshmen to Wolf Hollow.
Greeting buses is one of the only times the seven wolves at the Ipswich, Massachusetts, sanctuary reliably howl as a group, says facility director
Zee Soffron
.
This complex social behavior is part of what intrigues researchers like Suffolk University Associate Professor and Biology Chair
Lauren Nolfo-Clements
. Her course,
Fido the Friendly Wolf: A Natural History of Dogs
, tracks the evolution of canines through domestication - exploring how they went from pack hunters to pugs.

(SUPER)MARKET RESEARCH: Real-World Problem-Solving
|
Six hundred thirty-three steps from Suffolk University’s front door, a major regional business had unanswered questions.
Roche Bros. supermarket opened its Downtown Crossing location in 2015 as a wave of revitalization hit the neighborhood. Now the area is a hive of activity, fueled by pour-over coffees from the craft roasters on every corner and bargains from trendy retailers like Ireland’s Primark.
So how can a supermarket stand out in this supercharged environment? Roche Bros. worked with its neighbors at Suffolk - leveraging the market research skills of 376 business students - to find out.
