The focus of National Child Day this year is the Right to Identity. Encourage the children in your life to pursue their passions, interests, and strengths; to be curious and questioning; to be supportive and encouraging to others. Ask them how they want to celebrate National Child Day! To find out more about the history of National Child Day and how you can be involved, click here.
Daily Physical Activity
In 2006, Alberta Education instituted a policy of Daily Physical Activity (DPA) to ensure that all students in grades 1-9 would receive a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity during every school day. But how do you convince the kid that doesn't want to participate in phys. ed. to get that 30 minutes in? Ever Active Schools offers professional learning opportunities for educators, which include exploring creative ways to incorporate DPA on a shoestring budget. Check out Ever Active Schools' DPA learning opportunities here!
