Team Step Challenge Summit ESC staff will be participating in a team step challenge. The teams will be made up of each classroom and/or office. Each team member will log steps on Fridays during the challenge through Google Forms. The steps will be averaged so that it is fair to smaller teams. If you are active in other ways, such as taking a yoga class, etc., click here for a step conversion chart . The challenge will take place from October 29th through December 7th. Each week, everyone that submits a log will be entered into a drawing for a free one-day pass to the Cuyahoga Falls Nataorium.

November Wellness Tips Autumn can be a wonderful time for walking in the woods and taking in the beauty of nature but for those with asthma, kicking up leaves could also kick up mold allergies. Mold is found all around us, but is especially prevalent in decaying leaves and other decaying vegetation, and mold spores are easily dispersed in dry and windy weather. Children and adults with mold-triggered asthma should avoid activities like playing in leaves, raking leaves, and turning compost piles, another common source of mold. If these activities can’t be avoided, wear an N95 mask, which can be easily purchased in hardware or home improvement stores. You could just be overwhelmed with all of the activities, or you may have Seasonal Affective Disorder, a depression related to exposure to sunlight tends to hit around this time of year. Whatever the cause, it’s always best to get some advice from a medical professional. A growing body of research links Vitamin D deficiency to poor immune function and an increased risk of colds and flu. Talk to your healthcare provider about supplementing with Vitamin D3 1000 IU fall to spring and whenever the sunshine is out-get outside and take a walk to soak up just a little of its benefits. Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Season   Fall weather brings a sharp increase in carbon monoxide poisonings. As people turn on heating systems and light up fireplaces for the first time in months, the potential for carbon monoxide buildup in homes rises.
