2 MONTHS LATER - FLORENCE It's been 2 months since Florence visited our area and much has changed. Recovery is well underway. Hotels and restaurants are back open. The nasty water that flowed down the Neuse River and into the ocean is gone and all advisories have been lifted. Trout and reds are in the creeks and marshes and the water temperatures are in the 60's just like always in November. It's time to fish.

FALSE ALBACORE AT THE CRYSTAL COAST I sure wish someone would turn off the wind machine. The first half of albie season has been tough. Bigger winds and higher water temperatures than normal has caused challenges. Albies like water temperatures in the high 50's and 60's. On my last trip the water temperature was finally in the 60's. With lower water and land temperatures, the wind should start subsiding and our preferred north winds should be more prominent. I'll be fishing albies well into December.

THE FALL TROUT BITE HAS STARTED While everyone was recovering from the hurricane, the trout migrated back to the creeks, marshes and backwaters and are ready for some action. As mentioned above, the water temperatures are now in the 60's and the trout bite will last thru the 50's. As the water temperature falls, downsize your bait, slow down your retrieve, show a little patients and go home with dinner.

TWO MOUNTAIN TROUT TRIPS SCHEDULED FOR 2019 APRIL 26-28 AND OCTOBER 11-13 We'll be heading back to the mountains twice next year. The April trip will coincide with the caddis hatch and should be great dry fly fishing. Our early fall trip is a great change from the summer at the coast. Both are all inclusive packages including great guides, meals and accommodations. Give me a call and I'll provide more details.
