Greetings!
As we approach Thanksgiving this season, we'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the mixed feelings you may be experiencing. There's so much going on in the world these days that seems out of control, that seems too big to tackle. But there's hope: when we are part of a community, we are better able to digest the feelings, feel supported, and turn those thoughts and emotions into proactive and healthy steps towards creating a better future for ourselves and our neighbors.
We want to help everyone live in such a community.
Here's a quick look at this month's newsletter...

Cohousing is an Inclusive Approach to Smart, Sustainable Cities
Written by Cheryl Gladu

"The idea that technology will fix complex and systemic problems like climate change, poverty, the housing crisis or health care is simplistic to say the least.
We need a radical shift in how we live, and designing for environmental and social sustainability cannot simply be about applying new technologies to our existing models of living.
We need to support models of living that can both improve our actual well-being and reduce material demands on the planet.
Existing models of urban development that can achieve these goals are taking hold across North America. One example is collaborative housing or cohousing."

Eugene, Oregon's Oakleigh Meadow Cohousing Set to (re)Launch: Plans in Place, Seeking Additional Members to Make It a Reality.
Beginning Construction Spring 2019
|
|
Our client group in Eugene, Oregon has successfully completed initial group formation, land acquisition, design workshops, and a lengthy planning approvals process (
whew!). Due to the nature of the timeline,
prices for these homes are some of the best deals on the West Coast
They've recently made it a lot easier (and more affordable) to become an associate member, and – as a special bonus – associate membership is essentially “time-stamped” now for unit selection priority. This means
joining sooner rather than later gives you significant benefits.

An Amazing Site on the River with Pedestrian & Bike Access to Downtown
Their community's site is "situated in a prime location right along the Willamette River, including the Ruth Bascom river trail that runs along the river. This paved tree-lined path runs for 19.5 miles along both sides of the river, and gives walkers, runners, and bicyclists easy car-free access from our cohousing to downtown Eugene and other points in the city."
Construction begins in the spring of 2019! They still have some openings!
