Hope through strengthening community
Dear Campus Community,

The mass shooting at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life Synagogue on Saturday morning is a stark reminder of the presence and persistence of antisemitism in the United States.

These acts of violent hatred are designed to evoke terror and sow discord. Now is a crucial time to strengthen the bonds that connect us as a campus community dedicated to inclusive excellence.

UC TB/Immunization requirements for incoming students
Compliance deadline was October 26.
Non-compliant students face academic holds.

All Fall 2018 incoming students who did not comply with the UC TB/Immunization mandate by the deadline date of October 26 will have an academic hold placed on their record preventing enrollment in Winter quarter classes.

Non-compliant students have received secure messages from Student Health Center advising them of their compliance status.

Non-compliant students should immediately take the following actions:
  1. Logon to the Student Health Patient Portal.
  2. From the homepage, proceed to the TB Initial Risk Screening form and answer all five (5) questions. Click on the blue "Submit Final" button.
  3. From the homepage, proceed to the Immunization form:
    • Enter the dates for each vaccination already received.
    • Enter the TB Skin Test or TB Blood Test information if applicable.
    • Upload immunization and TB records. (You may upload additional documents, as you obtain them, at any time by clicking on "Immunization/TB Upload" button on the left sidebar of the portal.)
    • Click on the blue "Submit Final" button. (Please submit the Immunization form as "FINAL" even if ALL requirements are not yet completed.)
  4. To obtain any missing vaccinations or to have TB testing performed if required, students should contact the Student Health Center immediately at 949-824-5304 to schedule an appointment with a Nurse Clinic.
  5. Health Clearance & Immunization Fairs will be held at the Student Health Center on November 14, 15 and 16 to accommodate any students who remain non-compliant prior to the start of Winter Quarter class enrollment (November 19).

To schedule an appointment at one of the Health Clearance & Immunization Fairs please call the SHC appointment line at 949-824-5304.

Nov. 10 parent & family coffee socials

Grab a cup of coffee and ZOT! ZOT! ZOT!

Whether your student is a new Anteater or a senior, we invite you to connect with fellow Anteater parents and family members for a cup of coffee in your local neighborhood on  Saturday, November 10 from 10-11:30 a.m.

Enjoy the morning to get together, receive UCI updates and connect with fellow parents and families.

Regional coffee socials will be held simultaneously in multiple locations either at local coffee shops or in private residences organized by parent volunteers. All UCI parents, family members and alumni are invited to attend.

For questions, event inquiries or to receive parent engagement information, please email Lauren Walker or call 949-824-2749.

New locations are still being added - check back regularly for updates. If you are interested in hosting in a location that is not already listed or would like to have an event in a particular language, please email Lauren Walker to arrange this. Locations are chosen in areas where parent volunteers offer to host a coffee social.

Dining on campus for students on any schedule

Meal plans provide a convenient way to enjoy quality food on campus. With 10 different meal plan options ranging from unlimited access to the dining halls, to 25 meals to use throughout the year, or FlexDine to use anywhere on campus, UCI's meal plans provide the flexibility for any student's schedule including those who may not live on campus. Every meal card swipe covers an all-you-can-eat visit to The Anteatery or Pippin, and FlexDine works like a gift card or debit card on your student's UCI ID card usable throughout campus all school year.

BEWARE: Scam job offer emails
Students have reported receiving an unexpected job offer via email that requires no in-person interview or formal application, typically for an entry-level position such as personal assistant. Though the emails sometimes claim to be from UCI, they are not affiliated with the university and the job is fake.

Anyone receiving this sort of email should immediately forward the message to [email protected] and should not reply to the message. If a student receives a check or money from the sender, they should contact the UCI Police Department at 949.824.5223 to report financial fraud.

Additional information about fake job offer scams targeting students:
Contact [email protected] with any questions about suspicious emails.
