Critical Home Repair Program

In October we launched our Critical Home Repair program. This new service helps low-income homeowners make needed repairs so they can live in a safe, healthy, and affordable home.

We have already received a number of applications for this program, and we'll be making repairs for these home owners over the coming months. More information on the program and application process is below.

If you'd like to help us finance this meaningful work, we'd welcome your donation. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Godfrey Wood
Executive Director

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland's Critical Home Repair service helps low-income homeowners make needed repairs so they can live in a safe, healthy and affordable home. This program is part of a Habitat for Humanity's nation-wide effort to serve homeowners who are affected by age, disability or family circumstances and struggle to maintain the integrity of their homes.

The Critical Home Repair program requires an affordable payment from the homeowner for a portion of the repair costs. Applicants will be scored and ranked by level of need. Not all applications will be approved. This program serves homeowners in Cumberland County who have a household income below 80% of HUD Area Median Income.

Volunteers of the Month

In this section we typically highlight one volunteer that truly embodies the Habitat spirit. This month we decided to include three regular groups that volunteer each week on our construction site.

We recently celebrated our Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday groups with a lunch on site. Everyone received a gift as a small token of our appreciation for all of the hard work they've put into building with us over the years. Thank you to these dedicated volunteers whose outstanding dedication have served so many Habitat families!

In October we celebrated the (near) completion of our 13-home community, Carpenter Court in Scarborough, with a dedication! Thanks to our Habitat families, volunteers, donors, and supporters for braving the rain to join us for this joyous occasion!
