With a high-risk form of leukemia, Lael McGrath needed a stem cell transplant. Since no family members were a match, specialists in the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick quickly teamed up with the National Marrow Donor Program, Be the Match, where her ideal match was located in Germany. Nearly three years post-transplant, McGrath was able to thank her donor face-to-face during a recent heart-warming ceremony.

Yibin Kang, PhD
, the Warner-Lambert/Parke Davis Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University and the Associate Director for Consortium Research at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, has been awarded an American Cancer Society Research Professorship, receiving a lifelong designation accompanied by a five-year $400,000 commitment. Researchers are selected for American Cancer Society professorships based on their history of pioneering, influential work that’s continuing to change the direction of cancer research and on their track record of mentoring people who have become successful in cancer research.

Oncology Pharmacists: An Essential Partner in the Cancer Journey

One of the hallmarks of a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center like Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the only such designated center in the state, is the unique oncology expertise exhibited by its clinical team.
