A Message from the President and Founder, Lauren Genkinger

I would like to take this time to thank all of our supporters and volunteers who came to
the Gala last Saturday night. It was our best gala ever and we couldn't have done it
without all of you! One of my proudest moments of the evening was when the Golden
of Courage video played and showed what we had done for Duke, (it helped raise
$10,000 for our medical funds to continue to help dogs like Duke).

We are going to enter Duke into the pet rescue of the year contest that is featured
in Parade Magazine and hope that he wins. Even if he doesn't win, he will always be our hero.

On the Horizon: Hemangiosarcoma Studies

Every veterinarian who has treated a dog with HSA wishes for
better early diagnostics and more effective therapies to stop the growth of the HSA tumors. "The wish list for every veterinary oncologist starts with trying to find some way to deal with hemangiosarcoma," says Rodney Page, DVM, MS, Professor of Oncology, Director of the Flint Animal Cancer Center, and
Principal Investigator for the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study.
