OCTOBER 2019 MEETING RECAP
|
Thank you to Michael Wells, Amanda Jacobs and the City of Bedford for hosting our October meeting at the Old Bedford School building in Bedford. The old school building was a great meeting location not to mention of interesting historical significance. Thank you again for a wonderful meal, great venue and for the individual Texas blend popcorn you gave out.
Mayor Pro Tem Michael Boyter welcomed NTMCA to Bedford and spoke to the members about the history of the city.

Our guest speaker was Tana Travis, TABC Regional Licensing Supervisor, provided a TABC update. She spoke on the importance of certifying an application and knowing all the information is correct before signing. Once signed, the process to rescind the application can be difficult, especially if it has already been issued (Sec. 101.01). She also spoke briefly on the local option election information, collection of state fees, and helpful tips that can be found on the TABC website such as the wet/dry map and fee calculation spreadsheet. She also briefed everyone on the new legislation changes that effect the application process. Did you know, HB 1545 requires that an application be processed in 30 days after it has been received by the city. So, if your city has a policy or routine to hold the application until the applicant has applied for a certificate of occupancy, you will need to consider changing your process. A good alternative to comply with the new deadline is to not accept the application until all permits, inspections, etc. have been completed. Also did you know, TABC can help with delinquent permit fees? They can send letters to the permit holders (businesses) requesting payment to the city. TABC can also deny state permit renewal until businesses have settled delinquent charges to the city. For more information on help with delinquent fees, contact Teresa Shed via email [email protected] and for more questions on TABC permitting, please contact Tana Travis, Regional Licensing Supervisor at (817) 607-2417 or [email protected].

HOLIDAY LUNCHEON CELEBRATION
DECEMBER 12, 2019
The Annual NTMCA Holiday Luncheon is set for Thursday, December 12th, at Keller Pointe, located at 405 Rufe Snow Drive in Keller.
Please mark your calendar and plan on attending this special occasion.
The Holiday Committee has selected to collect monetary funds for a NTMCA brick paver to be included at the Gold Star Family Memorial Monument in Keller. Ms. Erin Stillinger, a 14 year old resident, is leading the project to create a “Gold Star Family Memorial Monument”. The monument will honor the families of servicemen and women who have sacrificed their lives while serving in the military. Her goal is to raise the money, create a design, start building as soon as possible, and then dedicate the monument in early 2020.
The committee is now accepting Silent Auction items. Remember the Silent Auction benefits the Alyce Deering Scholarship Fund. This fund is an excellent way to give back to NTMCA and offers assistance for someone to attend one of the TMCA educational seminars. Examples of donations for the Silent Auction can be gift cards, gift baskets, a certificate for a service or membership, craft items, etc. Your donations may be submitted to Alyce Deering Scholarship Committee members Alicia Richardson, Irma Parker, Allison Tidwell, Tara Brooks or board liaison Tammy Dixon. Holiday Committee members are Kelly Ballard and Jillian Cloud.
