10 Muscle-Building Exercises for Diabetes

If you have diabetes, you know how important it is to control your blood sugar. Strength training helps. Simple moves done regularly can prompt your muscles to absorb more glucose. You'll also burn more calories, day and night, as you get stronger. Your mood, cholesterol levels, and blood pressure may improve, too.

In partnership with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), this year’s focus is on the link between diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Adults with diabetes are nearly twice as likely to die from heart disease or stroke as people without diabetes. This is because over time, high blood glucose from diabetes can damage your blood vessels and the nerves that control your heart. The good news is that the steps you take to manage your diabetes can also help lower your chances of having heart disease or a stroke.

When you are faced with the news that you or your child has diabetes there is really a wave of emotions you go through .

Personally for me at first it seemed like it was no big deal, “Diabetes” okay we can handle this, limit this and that and ta da! It wasn’t until I was face to face with the doctor’s at children’s hospital watching my son lie in the bed unconscious due to DKA, that this wasn’t the “Diabetes” I had pictured.

Nevada Fines Rx Manufacturers $17.4 Million for Failing to Explain Diabetes Medications’ Price Hikes.

Last week, Nevada fined 21 pharmaceutical companies $17.4 million for failing to submit a report explaining recent, significant price hikes to essential diabetes drugs, as required by the state’s drug cost transparency law.
